Wine Down Thursday: Sean and Abby from ¿Por qué no? Selections
May 14 from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/peron

Spain is alive. Not in the postcard sense — in the cellar, in the vineyard, in the glass. This Thursday, we're thrilled to welcome Sean and Abby from ¿Por qué no? Selections — one of the most thoughtful and purposeful importers working in Spain today. For years, they've done the hard, unglamorous work of finding the right producers: the ones farming with conscience, making wine at a human scale, answering to their land before anyone else. These are not wines chasing scores or trends. ¿Por qué no? exists because someone had to ask the question — why not the small grower, why not the forgotten grape, why not the wine that has no marketing budget but all the soul in the world? — and then go find the answer, bottle by bottle.

We pour four bottles that tell four very different stories. We open with Albillo Real, a nearly forgotten white grape making a quiet and compelling comeback — rare, textured, and worth seeking out. Next, we travel to the Salnés Valley, home to one of Galicia's most celebrated expressions of Albariño — saline, precise, and electric. From there, the high granitic terraces of Ribeira Sacra, where Mencía grown on near-vertical slopes delivers a wine of startling perfume and silky tension. And we close in Rioja, not with Tempranillo, but with the indigenous Maturana Tinta — a variety so scarce and singular it deserves to be sought out.
These are wines made without shortcuts, from places that still believe terroir is worth protecting.
Please join us in raising a glass to the wines of Spain — and to the people who bring them here. Welcome, Sean and Abby.

Featured Wines:
2024 Anónimas Os Dunares Albariño
2022 La Suerte de Arrayán Albillo Real
2022 Anónimas Catro e Cadela Mencía

Producer Visit: Anna Galofre of Valldolina
Thursday May 7th, 6-7:30
Sampler: Flight Of Four $20 - 2 oz each

We are honored to host Anna Galofre of Valldolina Winery, showcasing wines from the unique Massís del Garraf terroir; a rugged, high-altitude region south of Barcelona defined by ancient limestone. The Galofre family practices organic, low-intervention viticulture to produce wines of crystalline purity and saline freshness. Join us as we explore four iconic bottlings that celebrate the distinct Mediterranean character of her family estate.

NV VallDolina Cava Brut Nature

Sourced from rugged high-altitude vineyards, this traditional blend of Xarel-lo, Macabeu, and Parellada is aged over 24 months on the lees. Crafted without dosage (Brut Nature), this crystalline Cava leads with notes of crisp green apple and toasted almond, finishing with a piercing, saline minerality that reflects the limestone terroir.

VallDolina Bivac

This textured, high-altitude white blend balances sun-drenched ripeness with a distinct, salty snap. It offers elegant notes of white peach and wild mountain herbs, supported by a vibrant, crystalline acidity. This sophisticated, site-driven white highlights the profound elegance achieved in the challenging, limestone-rich coastal mountains.

VallDolina ‘Ona’ Penedes Rosat

The ‘Ona Rosat' is a vibrant, site-driven expression of the Garraf mountains, focused on energy and aromatic brightness. It opens with lifted notes of wild strawberry and fresh citrus zest. Lean and refreshing on the palate, it has a distinct mineral backbone and a saline snap that keeps the delicate red fruit in crystalline balance.

VallDolina Marselan Natural

A rare, compelling natural expression of Marselan (A cross of Cabernet Sauvignon and Grenache) thriving in the estate’s sun-drenched, limestone-rich parcels. It presents a deep, plush profile of dark bramble fruit and black plum, yet remains anchored by the signature Valldolina crystalline freshness and a subtle, savory earthiness. This is an approachable, low-intervention red showcasing the incredible stylistic diversity of this rugged, high-altitude terroir.

Wine Down Thursday: Field Recordings
April 30 from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

Sometimes the best way to find great wine is to look where no one else is watching. This week, we are featuring Field Recordings, the brainchild of Andrew Jones. By day, Andrew is a vine nurseryman, stepping into nearly every vineyard on the Central Coast. This "boots on the ground" expertise allows him to find small, forgotten parcels of heritage vines and overlooked sites that others pass by. The result? Wines with a distinct sense of place, a touch of grit, and a lot of soul. Join us as we explore three of Andrew’s most iconic bottlings that celebrate the diversity of California’s Central Coast.

2024 Field Recordings Chenin Blanc

This is a serious study in California Chenin Blanc, sourced from an incredible quartet of vineyards: Chalone, Jurassic Park, Le Bon Climat, and Shell Creek. By sourcing from these distinct sites, ranging from the high-elevation limestone of Chalone to the ancient sea-beds of Jurassic Park, Andrew creates a Chenin with remarkable depth. Fermented in stainless steel to preserve its piercing acidity, the wine leads with green apple and wet stone. It finishes with a saline snap that reflects its coastal roots.

2023 Field Recordings Skins

‘Skins’ has become a benchmark for accessible, well-crafted skin-contact whites. A blend of twelve varieties both red and white. The wine spends several weeks macerating on the skins to extract its characteristic amber hue and a distinctive tannic structure. While the nose is highly aromatic, full of apricot pits and dried citrus peel, the palate is bone-dry with a structured, tea-like grip. It is a sophisticated, food-friendly wine that bridges the gap between white and red.

2024 Field Recordings Fiction

Fiction’ was the very first wine Andrew Jones produced and remains the ultimate expression of his field blend philosophy. Sourced from the rugged hills of Paso Robles, this multi-varietal blend is built for the table. It balances lush dark berry fruit with savory notes of cracked black pepper and forest floor. It is an approachable, soulful red that prioritizes the character of the vintage over a rigid recipe.

Wine Down Thursday: Monica Zas of La Cueva
April 23 from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/peron

Valencia is emerging as one of Spain's most compelling frontiers, where old vines, Mediterranean light, and a new wave of producers like La Cueva converge to create wines that feel both deeply rooted and thrillingly untamed. This Thursday, we step into the limestone shadows and sunlit terraces of Valencia, where La Cueva quietly redefines what Mediterranean wine can be.

Guided by the singular vision of Mónica Zas, these wines are not just expressions of place — they're conversations with it. Ancient varieties, living soils, and a deep respect for time come together in bottles that feel both raw and precise, rustic yet electric.

We'll explore the vibrant pulse of Viu Bobal, the textured ancestral sparkle of Moscatel & Macabeo, and the more introspective, layered voices of Lail and Yom — each wine revealing a different facet of La Cueva's philosophy: minimal intervention, maximum character. Expect energy, a little wildness, and a sense of discovery. These are wines that don't sit still — they evolve, they challenge, and above all, they invite you in.

Wine Down Thursday: Electric Pink Bubbles!
April 9, from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

Spring in Michigan arrives on its own terms—and right now, those terms include frost warnings and sixty-degree afternoons in the same week. To honor that beautiful unpredictability, we've chosen three sparkling rosés that are anything but straightforward. This is not simply pink wine; it's an exploration of texture, tension, and the remarkable ways that bubbles can transform a grape. From ancient limestone caves in the Loire Valley to the windswept riverbanks of northern Italy, Thursday's "Electric Pink Bubbles" capture exactly the kind of restless, luminous energy that makes the turn toward spring so worth the wait.

Featured Wines;
NV M. Bonnamy Crémant de Loire Brut Rosé
Crafted from 100% Cabernet Franc grown on Loire Valley's celebrated tuffeau limestone soils, this is the elegant anchor of our flight. Made using the traditional method — the same process behind Champagne — the wine ages on its lees for a minimum of 12 months in ancient caves carved directly into the hillside. Crisp and bone-dry, it offers classic notes of wild strawberry and red currant, with a subtle earthy mineral undertone and a fine, persistent bead.

2024 Wine Pirati Capitano
Wine Pirati is one of the most exciting projects coming out of Michigan right now, built around organic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. The Capitano is a vibrant, unfiltered pét-nat that captures the raw energy of Michigan's cool-climate fruit. Bottled mid-fermentation to trap a soft, natural fizz, it leads with wild raspberry and zesty citrus, finishing with that signature hazy, joyful character that only a natural sparkler can deliver. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, it's a compelling reminder of why Michigan's new generation of winemakers is earning serious attention.

2024 Paltrinieri Radice Lambrusco di Sorbara Rosé
This frizzante is a tribute to the radici — the roots — of Lambrusco. It reaches back to the pre-industrial era, before Charmat tanks reshaped the region, when wine was refermented naturally in the bottle. Made from 100% free-run juice with native yeasts, the grapes are grown in the historic Cristo di Sorbara subzone, the most prized terroir in the appellation. Pale coral and bone-dry, it tastes of grapefruit and pomegranate with a finish that's all saline freshness — practically salt on your lips. Sophisticated and terroir-driven, it honors everything Lambrusco was before the world forgot.

Wine Down Thursday: New Arrivals
April 2, from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

This week for Wine Down Thursday, we are thrilled to showcase a powerhouse lineup of new arrivals representing some of the most soulful and inspired winemaking in the country. From the russet-red sandstone shores of Seneca Lake to the historic, dry-farmed vines of Lodi, this flight is a celebration of the deep connection between land and glass. Join us as we explore three incredible wines that honor tradition while bringing fresh, vibrant energy to the table.

Featured Wines;
2024 Apollo’s Praise Dry Riesling ‘Lahoma Vineyard’
Apollo’s Praise is the brand-new project from Finger Lakes legends Kelby James Russell and Julia Hoyle. Centered on the iconic Lahoma Vineyard, this site is a geological anomaly characterized by rare red sandstone soils. This Riesling is a masterclass in texture; it undergoes a cold-soak maceration to extract power and structure while maintaining a crystalline citrus and peach core. It is a bold, artistic statement from two of the region's most respected ambassadors.

2024 Bedrock Wine Co. ‘Ode to Lulu’ Rosé
Bedrock is the passion project of Morgan Twain-Peterson MW, a guardian of California’s "forgotten" vines. ‘Ode to Lulu’ is a heartfelt tribute to Lulu Peyraud, the late matriarch of Domaine Tempier in Bandol. Sourced primarily from centenarian Mourvèdre vines, this is a "serious" rosé. It is savory, herbaceous, and structured, leaning into the spicy character of old-vine fruit while maintaining a crisp, saline finish that rivals the best of southern France.

2023 Sandlands Red Table Wine
Sandlands is the personal project of Tegan Passalacqua, the longtime vineyard manager for Turley Wine Cellars. Tegan is a "vineyard sleuth" dedicated to forgotten regions and grapes grown in sandy, ungrafted soils. This Red Table Wine is a soulful, equal-parts blend of Cinsault, Carignane, and Zinfandel from three heritage vineyards planted between 1886 and 1915. Fermented with 100% whole clusters, it is bright, floral, and elegant, honoring California’s deep viticultural history.

Wine Down Thursday: Three Shades of Pinot Noir
March 26, from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

Join us for an evening dedicated to the world's most seductive and maddening grape.
Pinot Noir is a study in contradiction — heartbreakingly thin-skinned yet capable of extraordinary depth, fiercely tied to its origins yet endlessly shape-shifting across the world's great wine regions. No other variety so nakedly expresses the land it comes from. Which makes tasting it side by side, across three countries, something close to magic.
We begin in Burgundy with Albert Bichot's sparkling rosé — traditional method, limestone soils, Pinot Noir at its most luminous and alive. We travel next to California's Sonoma Coast, where Stagiaire's "Your Touch & The Breeze" is sculpted by Pacific winds and dramatic elevation into something wild and coastal. We close in Germany's Rheingau, where August Kesseler's "The Daily Pinot Noir" rises from steep slate slopes above the Rhine — precise, mineral, hauntingly captivating.
Three wines. One grape. A world of difference.
We hope you'll join us.

Featured Wines;
NV Albert Bichot Cremant de Bourgogne Rosé Brut
This  is a traditional-method sparkling wine from Burgundy, made from a Pinot Noir–dominant blend with Chardonnay and a small proportion of Gamay. Founded in 1831, Albert Bichot is a historic, family-owned Burgundy producer led today by Albéric Bichot. Each grape variety is vinified separately, and the wine is aged on the lees for at least 12 months, contributing to its fine, persistent bubbles. It shows aromas of raspberry, cherry, and citrus, with a palate that combines lively acidity and subtle creaminess.

2023 Stagiaire Your Touch & The Breeze
What better way to kick off a spring evening than with a chilled red! The 2023 "Your Touch & The Breeze" from Stagiaire reflects both its dramatic vineyard site and the philosophy of its maker, Brent Mayeaux. Stagiaire — French for "apprentice" — embodies the humility and curiosity at the heart of Brent's craft, shaped by natural wine pioneers including Philippe Bornard in the Jura. This Pinot Noir comes from a remote three-acre vineyard perched at 1,400 feet on the Sonoma Coast, just over a mile from the Pacific. Constant ocean winds, cooling fog, and dramatic temperature swings give the wine its singular character. Native yeast fermentation and zero intervention let the vineyard speak for itself. The result: wild strawberry, rose petal, and forest floor, lifted by bright acidity and silky tannins. Best served with a slight chill.

2022 August Kesseler The Daily Pinot Noir
August Kesseler took over the family estate at just 19 years old and gradually expanded it into a benchmark producer of Pinot Noir and Riesling. Today the estate farms vineyards across some of the Rheingau’s most prized sites around Assmannshausen, Rüdesheim, and Lorch, where steep slopes rise dramatically above the Rhine River. The region’s cool climate and slate-rich soils allow Pinot Noir to ripen slowly and develop both bright acidity and pronounced mineral character. The Daily Pinot Noir is aged in barriques in a historic rock-hewn cellar dating back to 1792, resulting in a finely textured Pinot Noir brimming with ripe berry fruit and a gentle undercurrent of warm baking spices.

Wine Down Thursday: Down the Danube
March 19, from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

Join us this Thursday as we taste through three Austrian wines. From the steep, terraced vineyards of the Wachau to the cool, forest-lined hills of the Kamptal, these wines showcase the remarkable diversity of terroir found along the Danube. The lineup includes the crisp, mineral-driven 2023 Mathias Hirtzberger "Stab" Grüner Veltliner Steinfeder, the bright and refreshing 2024 Brunn Blauer Zweigelt Rosé, and the lively multi-vintage Nibiru "Oida!" red. Together, they illustrate the balance that defines Austrian winemaking and the cool continental climate that gives these wines their hallmark freshness, aromatic precision, and lively acidity.

Featured Wines;
2023 Mathias Hirtzberger Grüner Veltliner “Stab” Steinfeder
The 2023 Grüner Veltliner "Stab" Steinfeder from Weinhofmeisterei Mathias Hirtzberger reflects both the heritage of one of the Wachau's most respected wine families and the distinctive terroir of the Danube Valley. Mathias Hirtzberger, the youngest son of renowned Wachau vintner Franz Hirtzberger, established his own estate in 2014 in the village of Wösendorf, building on generations of viticultural tradition while developing a personal style. The Wachau is characterized by steep stone terraces and a complex mosaic of soils. The "Steinfeder" designation refers to the lightest category in the Wachau's traditional quality hierarchy, named after a delicate local grass that grows among the vines. The 2023 "Stab" is a light-bodied white that boasts a pale yellow-green hue hinting at its refreshing nature. On the nose, you'll find a delightful blend of crisp green apple and honeydew melon, accented by subtle hints of meadow herbs. The palate is lively and balanced, with juicy fruit flavors dancing alongside invigorating acidity.

2024 Brunn Blauer Zweigelt Rose
The 2024 Brunn Blauer Zweigelt Rosé is a York favorite. This wine comes from the small family-run Weingut Brunn, located in the village of Engabrunn in Kamptal just north of the Danube. The estate is run by Karl Steinschaden, whose family has been farming it for six generations. Karl emphasizes traditional methods such as hand harvesting, native fermentations, and aging in neutral vessels. Beneath the winery lies a historic subterranean cellar, and the estate even maintains a Renaissance-era basket press dating back to 1564 that originally belonged to the nearby Benedictine Göttweig Abbey. The Kamptal area is known for a mix of loess, gravelly deposits, and calcareous soils layered over ancient crystalline bedrock, contributing to its distinctive character. Made from Austria's signature red variety, Blauer Zweigelt, the 2024 rosé captures lively notes of wild strawberry, citrus, and herbs, framed by crisp acidity and a clean, refreshing finish.

MV Nibiru Oida!
“Oida!” is a welcoming snapshot of what this estate has to offer. Made from 100% Zweigelt, this red blends fruit from the 2021 and 2022 vintages. The grapes are sourced from Hiesberg (25–30-year-old vines on rose quartz soils) and Steinleithen (65-year-old vines on mica schist), both farmed biodynamically. The winery was founded in 2015 by winemaker Josef Schenter and Julia Nather, who farm a small collection of vineyards around the village of Thürneustift, one of the coolest and northernmost parts of the Kamptal. Drawing on Josef’s family farming roots and their shared commitment to organic and biodynamic agriculture, the pair practice regenerative viticulture and encourage biodiversity in the vineyards. The vineyards sit around 400 meters above sea level on rocky terraces. “Oida!” is a medium- to light-bodied wine, super juicy with notes of brambly fruit and bright acidity throughout.

Wine Down Thursday: New School, Old Vines
March 12, from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

When we think of California wine, we often think of modern technology and bold, fruit-forward styles. But beneath the surface lies a different story—one of "heritage" vineyards and a new generation of winemakers returning to old-world traditions. For this week’s Wine Down Thursday, we are exploring the intersection of history and innovation. We’ve selected three bottles from producers who prioritize "site over cellar," using old-vine fruit and minimal intervention to create wines with incredible tension and soul. If you’re looking to discover the "new" California through the lens of its oldest roots, this is the flight for you!

Featured Wines;
2018 Smith-Madrone Riesling
High atop the steep, volcanic slopes of Spring Mountain in Napa, the Smith brothers have been dry-farming their estate since 1971. This 2018 Riesling is a masterclass in mountain viticulture. Now with several years of bottle age, it has developed a stunning, sophisticated complexity. While it remains bone-dry and "electric" with lime-driven acidity, it is beginning to show those classic, sought-after notes of petrol and wet stone. It is a precise, high-altitude wine that proves Napa’s "old guard" can produce world-class, age-worthy Riesling.

2019 Fine Disregard Semillon
Semillon is one of California's great "heritage" grapes, though it is rarely seen as a standalone star today. Sourced from the Milhouse Vineyard (planted in the 1940s), this bottling from Fine Disregard is a love letter to these historic vines. Expect an intellectual, savory profile—think lemon curd, lanolin, and dried herbs. Unlike a zippy Sauvignon Blanc, this wine offers a unique, waxy texture and a fullness that coats the palate, held together by a firm, structural backbone.

2023 Haarmeyer Wine Cellars “Victor Weiser” Gemischter Satz
We’re finishing the flight with a true "new school" wildcard. A Gemischter Satz is a traditional Austrian-style field blend where multiple varieties (both red and white) are grown, harvested, and fermented together. Craig Haarmeyer is a leader in California’s minimalist movement, and this blend is nothing short of vibrant. It is salty, floral, and incredibly energetic. With a shimmering, mineral-driven finish, it’s a brilliant example of the experimental spirit currently thriving in the Sacramento Delta.

Wine Down Thursday: Let it Shine!
March 5, from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

With the weather finally warming, it feels like the perfect moment to turn our attention to Spain and three sensational bottles that bridge the gap between winter comfort and spring brightness. This Thursday's lineup delivers generous, ripe fruit while remaining lifted, refreshing, and precise—each wine shaped by altitude, stony soils, and thoughtful winemaking rather than sheer power.
Our focus is on producers working in mountainous zones, where diurnal swings preserve acidity and detail. These are not heavy, extracted reds, but wines with mineral edges, savory nuance, and unmistakable Spanish warmth that stay nimble in the glass. Think of them as ideal "shoulder season" reds—structured enough for cooler evenings, yet vibrant enough to welcome the longer days ahead. Together, they offer a tour of contemporary Spanish terroir: pure fruit, tension, and clarity without excess weight. Join us in willing the warmth, one glass at a time.

Featured Wines;
2024 Guímaro Tinto
Pedro Rodríguez of Adegas Guímaro is a fifth‑generation grower in Ribeira Sacra, farming vertiginous slate and granite terraces by hand and championing almost-forgotten local grapes rather than chasing trend or score. “Guímaro” means “rebel” in Gallego, and his approach lives up to the name: low‑input, organic farming, native yeasts, whole‑cluster work, and aging in neutral vessels to let Mencía and site speak clearly. The 2024 Guímaro Tinto typically shows bright red and black berries, violet, and a faint herbal snap over a slate‑driven, mineral core, with medium body, vibrant acidity, fine tannins, and a salty, mouthwatering finish that feels both rustic and precise.

2022 Navaherreros Garnacha Tinta
Vinos de Madrid’s rise from rustic table wine to sommelier obsession is largely written in Garnacha. High-elevation granitic slopes, old bush vines, and a continental climate proved ideal for redefining the grape — away from heavy extraction and over-oaking, toward nuance, transparency, and tension. Producers like Bernabeleva drove this shift through a stubborn commitment to organics, low yields, and infusion-style extraction, treating Garnacha more like Pinot than Priorat. Their 2022 Navaherreros Garnacha Tinta shows why the region is now indispensable on serious lists: lifted red fruit, wild herbs, white pepper, and crushed granite, carried on silken tannins and bright acidity. A benchmark for precision, site expression, and modern Spanish Garnacha.

2023 Ona Priorat
Priorat doesn’t forgive shortcuts. Slate soils, brutal summers, and near-vertical llicorella terraces demand total commitment — and Blai Ferré Just gives it. A native son of the region, he fell in love with winemaking as a teenager working under Álvaro Palacios, went on to study viticulture and oenology, and at 22 purchased two small parcels to launch Billo. He’s been quietly overdelivering ever since. Don’t expect scale. Blai caps production at 7,000–8,000 bottles, farming everything himself on unforgiving terrain. The 2023 Ona — a blend of Garnatxa, Syrah, and Carinyena — delivers exactly what this appellation demands: intensity, structure, and hard-won balance. In Priorat, there’s no other way.

Wine Down Thursday: A River Runs Through It
February 26, from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

Join us this Thursday as we explore France’s longest river, the Loire, a region renowned for its remarkable diversity of wines. We’ll taste three classic expressions of Loire terroir, beginning with the limestone-rich soils of Saumur, where vibrant Chenin Blanc shows striking freshness and minerality. Next, we’ll enjoy an elegant Sancerre Rosé, highlighting the appellation’s signature crispness and finesse. Finally, we’ll conclude with a friendly Cabernet Franc from Chinon, offering supple red fruits, lively acidity, and the subtle herbal and mineral nuances that make Loire reds so captivating.

Featured Wines;
2023 Arnaud Lambert Midi Saumur Blanc
Arnaud Lambert has established himself as one of the Loire's most thoughtful producers — a winemaker and soil specialist whose organic and biodynamic work across Brézé and Saint-Cyr-en-Bourg has earned serious attention. The domaine farms around 40 hectares on tuffeau limestone, clay, and sand, and that geological mix is exactly what you taste in the glass: pronounced minerality, taut acidity, and a site-specificity that rewards attention. Lambert's philosophy is disciplined restraint — minimal cellar intervention paired with obsessive vineyard management — and his single-site bottlings, including the lieu-dit Midi, are where that approach pays off most clearly.

2024 Domaine Daulny Sancerre Rosé
Domaine Etienne Daulny is a small, family-run estate spanning roughly 15 hectares across fragmented plots in Verdigny and Chaudenay — two villages that sit at the heart of Sancerre's chalky, flint-laced terroir. While the appellation's reputation rests on Sauvignon Blanc, Daulny's 100% Pinot Noir rosé is a reminder that Sancerre's continental climate and limestone-rich soils are equally well-suited to producing Pinot of real precision and freshness. The 2024 vintage opens with wild strawberry, red currant, and a subtle floral lift, then moves onto a citrus-driven palate with bright acidity and a clean mineral thread that carries through to a focused finish. Light on its feet, but with enough structure to hold its own at the table.

2024 Plouzeau Chinon Rive Gauche Rouge
Marc Plouzeau represents another chapter in a multi-generation winemaking story rooted in Chinon, one of the Loire's most historically significant appellations for Cabernet Franc. Farming the left bank of the Vienne — a Loire tributary where clay-limestone, gravel, and flint soils shift meaningfully across short distances — Plouzeau has pursued full organic certification since taking over the estate in 1999, with a hands-off approach that lets those distinct soil types speak for themselves. The Rive Gauche Rouge is Chinon in a classic register: red currant, raspberry, and violet on the nose, followed by a fresh, supple palate with silky tannins, lively acidity, and a quiet peppery finish that's the Franc signature. It's the kind of wine that makes a strong case for Chinon as one of France's great undervalued reds — genuinely complex, but never overwrought.

Wine Down Thursday: Old World Elegance

Thursday, February 5th 6-7:30pm

Sampler: $20

While many wines are celebrated for their bold, sunshine-filled intensity, there is a special kind of magic found in Old World Elegance. This style is all about subtlety, structure, and the quiet nuances of the vineyard. This week for Wine Down Thursday, we are celebrating wines that prioritize finesse and harmony. We’ve curated a flight that embodies the poise of classic European winemaking, featuring a sparkling Rosé from the heart of the Loire, a silky Pinot Nero from the foothills of the Italian Alps, and a laser-sharp Chenin Blanc from a collective of France’s most dedicated vignerons. Join us as we explore wines that feel like a perfectly tailored suit—bottles where the fruit, the acidity, and the earthy mineral notes are in seamless, graceful balance.

NV M.Bonnamy Crémant de Loire Brut Rosé

Nothing captures a sense of occasion quite like the fine, persistent bubbles of a traditional method Crémant. Produced in the Loire Valley, this 100% Cabernet Franc Rosé is a masterclass in texture. It pours a delicate salmon pink and offers a bouquet of wild strawberries, red currants, and a hint of toasted brioche. On the palate, it is crisp and dry, with a creamy mousse that feels luxurious without being heavy. It’s the perfect polished sparkler to kick off any evening.

2024 Les Athlètes du Vin Chenin

The Oltrepò Pavese in Lombardy has been a sanctuary for Pinot Nero since the mid-1800s, and Tenuta Mazzolino is one of its most historic custodians. The "Terrazze" refers to the steep, sun-drenched slopes that rise up to 300 meters above sea level. This elevation is critical; the cool alpine breezes at night preserve the grape's delicate acidity, while the clay-limestone soils provide a refined structure. The result is a wine that captures the bright, lifted side of the variety, showing notes of sour cherry and rose petals with a stony minerality that only comes from high-altitude viticulture.

2024 Tenuta Mazzolino Terrazze Pinot Nero

The Loire Valley is the spiritual home of Chenin Blanc, and this bottling from a collective of top-tier growers is pure, unadulterated class. "The Athletes of Wine" focus on movement and energy in their fermentations. This Chenin is bone-dry and vibrant, featuring notes of bruised apple, honeysuckle, and the grape’s signature wooly minerality. It possesses a beautiful "cut" and clarity, showcasing the poise and longevity that make Loire Valley whites some of the most respected in the world.

Wine Down Thursday: Zesty, Lively Whites
Thursday, January 29, from 6 to 7:30 PM
Sampler: $20 per person

When we talk about wines as being "refreshing," we're really talking about one thing: Acidity! Often called the "backbone" of wine, acidity is what brings a wine to life—giving it energy, vibrancy, and that mouth-watering appeal. For our Wine Down Thursday, we're leaning into the brightness with three wines that define the "high acid" style. We've selected bottles from three different regions: Austria's Wachau Valley, France's Loire Valley, and our very own backyard—Michigan's Old Mission Peninsula—to showcase how cool climates and specific soils can turn a white wine into a high-tension work of art. If you love wine that "zings" and leaves the palate feeling brand new, this is the tasting for you!

Featured Wines:
2022 Tegernseerhof Dürnstein Riesling Federspiel
Martin Mittelbach is a fifth-generation winegrower at Tegernseerhof, a winery which dates back to 1176. Grown on steep, stony river terraces, this wine is bone-dry and laser-focused. You'll find intense aromas of lime zest, white peach, and wet slate. The acidity here is crystalline and precise, providing a "nervy" energy that carries a long, saline finish. It's a sophisticated, intellectual white that perfectly captures the cool-climate power of Austrian Riesling.

2023 Domaine de L’Estang Coteaux du Giennois
If you love Sancerre, this should be your new favorite "secret" bottle. Located just north of Sancerre in the Loire Valley, the Coteaux du Giennois produces Sauvignon Blanc with incredible character and value. Bertrand Graillot uses organic farming and flinty soils to create a wine that is zesty and herbal, but with a surprising weight from extended time on the lees. Expect bright grapefruit and gooseberry notes backed by a distinct "gunflint" minerality and a punchy, refreshing finish.

2024 Stranger Wine Company Pinot Blanc
Local talent alert! Stranger Wine Company is producing some of the most exciting minimal-intervention wines in Michigan right now. This Pinot Blanc is sourced from the 1-acre Prairie School Vineyard, one of the best sites for Pinot Blanc in the state. While Pinot Blanc is known to be "softer," the 2024 retains beautiful, humming acidity thanks to the cool breezes of the Grand Traverse Bay. Fresh and bright on the nose, while the palate is rich and dry, it's the best of both worlds. A wonderful wine that demonstrates Michigan's ability to produce truly world-class wines.

Wine Down Thursday: Rediscovering Spain
Thursday, January 15, from 6 to 7:30 PM
Sampler: $20 per person

Spain is world-renowned for barrel-aged Tempranillo and Cava, but a quiet revolution is unfolding in the country's hidden corners. For our Wine Down Thursday, we're rediscovering Spain—through ancient vines reclaimed from obscurity, vineyards planted at breathtaking elevations untouched by modern convention, and winemakers who favor patience over intervention. From the northwestern plateaus of León near the Asturian mountains to the sun-drenched Mediterranean shores of Mallorca and the high-altitude slopes of Rioja Alta between 1,300 and 2,000 feet, these three bottles offer a masterclass in Spanish terroir and innovation. Join us and discover why these are the wines our staff can't stop pouring.

Featured Wines:
2024 Pardevalles Albarín
Pardevalles is known for reviving rare native grapes, especially Prieto Picudo and Albarín Blanco in Tierra de León. Albarín Blanco, an indigenous white from León, had almost disappeared before the estate committed to replanting and championing it over the past two decades. Today, Pardevalles farms significant holdings on high‑altitude, rocky alluvial soils between roughly 2,500 and 2,700 feet, which contribute to the wine’s freshness and tension. The 2024 Albarín offers lifted aromatics of lime zest, starfruit, yellow apple, and elderflower, layered with herbal notes and a subtle leesy, toasty nuance, while the palate is dry, with an earthy mineral streak that drives a long, precise finish

2024 Mesquida Mora Sincronia Negre
Bàrbara Mesquida Mora practices regenerative agriculture, interplanting her vineyards with fruit trees, medicinal plants, and cover crops. In 2007, she earned one of Spain's first Demeter biodynamic certifications. Founded in 2002 on a historic estate inherited from her mother, Bàrbara’s vineyards form a "mosaic" of varieties. For her Sincronía Negre, she masterfully blends native Mallorcan grapes—Callet, Fogoneu, and Mantonegro—with Syrah, Merlot, and Pinot Noir to craft an elegant, energetic wine showing fresh red fruit, wet earth, subtle gaminess, and Mediterranean herbs.

2023 Berta Valgañón Maturana Tinta
Berta Valgañón is a rising star in Rioja Alta, crafting wines from organic and regenerative estate vineyards, some with vines over 100 years old planted by her great-grandparents. This wine is 100% Maturana Tinta, a rare native variety with historic roots in Rioja that nearly vanished after the 19th-century phylloxera epidemic. Its revival gained momentum around 2007, driven by its talent for retaining fresh acidity amid rising temperatures. Berta ferments in concrete to preserve purity and vibrancy. Elegant tannins and bright acidity define this sophisticated, terroir-driven red, revealing a modern facet of Rioja.
