Wine Down Thursday: Electric Pink Bubbles!
April 9, from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person
Spring in Michigan arrives on its own terms—and right now, those terms include frost warnings and sixty-degree afternoons in the same week. To honor that beautiful unpredictability, we've chosen three sparkling rosés that are anything but straightforward. This is not simply pink wine; it's an exploration of texture, tension, and the remarkable ways that bubbles can transform a grape. From ancient limestone caves in the Loire Valley to the windswept riverbanks of northern Italy, Thursday's "Electric Pink Bubbles" capture exactly the kind of restless, luminous energy that makes the turn toward spring so worth the wait.
Featured Wines;
NV M. Bonnamy Crémant de Loire Brut Rosé
Crafted from 100% Cabernet Franc grown on Loire Valley's celebrated tuffeau limestone soils, this is the elegant anchor of our flight. Made using the traditional method — the same process behind Champagne — the wine ages on its lees for a minimum of 12 months in ancient caves carved directly into the hillside. Crisp and bone-dry, it offers classic notes of wild strawberry and red currant, with a subtle earthy mineral undertone and a fine, persistent bead.
2024 Wine Pirati Capitano
Wine Pirati is one of the most exciting projects coming out of Michigan right now, built around organic viticulture and minimal-intervention winemaking. The Capitano is a vibrant, unfiltered pét-nat that captures the raw energy of Michigan's cool-climate fruit. Bottled mid-fermentation to trap a soft, natural fizz, it leads with wild raspberry and zesty citrus, finishing with that signature hazy, joyful character that only a natural sparkler can deliver. A blend of Chardonnay and Pinot Nero, it's a compelling reminder of why Michigan's new generation of winemakers is earning serious attention.
2024 Paltrinieri Radice Lambrusco di Sorbara Rosé
This frizzante is a tribute to the radici — the roots — of Lambrusco. It reaches back to the pre-industrial era, before Charmat tanks reshaped the region, when wine was refermented naturally in the bottle. Made from 100% free-run juice with native yeasts, the grapes are grown in the historic Cristo di Sorbara subzone, the most prized terroir in the appellation. Pale coral and bone-dry, it tastes of grapefruit and pomegranate with a finish that's all saline freshness — practically salt on your lips. Sophisticated and terroir-driven, it honors everything Lambrusco was before the world forgot.
