Wine Down Thursday: Monica Zas of La Cueva
April 23 from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/peron
Valencia is emerging as one of Spain's most compelling frontiers, where old vines, Mediterranean light, and a new wave of producers like La Cueva converge to create wines that feel both deeply rooted and thrillingly untamed. This Thursday, we step into the limestone shadows and sunlit terraces of Valencia, where La Cueva quietly redefines what Mediterranean wine can be.
Guided by the singular vision of Mónica Zas, these wines are not just expressions of place — they're conversations with it. Ancient varieties, living soils, and a deep respect for time come together in bottles that feel both raw and precise, rustic yet electric.
We'll explore the vibrant pulse of Viu Bobal, the textured ancestral sparkle of Moscatel & Macabeo, and the more introspective, layered voices of Lail and Yom — each wine revealing a different facet of La Cueva's philosophy: minimal intervention, maximum character. Expect energy, a little wildness, and a sense of discovery. These are wines that don't sit still — they evolve, they challenge, and above all, they invite you in.
We are delighted to welcome Mónica Zas to Ann Arbor for the very first time — please join us in raising a glass to her vision, her craft, and her presence here with us this Thursday.
