Wine Down Thursday: Bedrock Wine Co.
September 24 from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $25/person

Join us for an exceptional Wine Down tasting featuring Bedrock Wine Co., founded by Master of Wine Morgan Twain-Peterson. When we met Morgan, his warmth, purpose, and deep respect for California’s historic vineyards were immediately apparent. Bedrock has spent nearly two decades preserving and revitalizing old-vine sites, crafting expressive, place-driven wines that honor the state’s remarkable viticultural legacy. For this tasting, we will pour three distinctive selections: two timeless red wines that showcase Bedrock’s signature depth, character, and balance, alongside a bright, effortlessly drinkable Sauvignon Blanc. Whether you are already a fan of California wine or simply eager to discover something memorable, this is an invitation to taste wines with real history, personality, and a true sense of place.

Featured Wines:
2025 Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc
This is a must-try Sauvignon Blanc, period. Bedrock’s 2025 Sonoma Valley Sauvignon Blanc was a genuine surprise for us, and no, it was not simply Morgan’s charming personality or deep knowledge of the vines that won us over. Rather than leaning on a single site, the wine draws its character from three Sonoma Valley vineyards, each contributing a distinct element to the blend: aromatic brightness, ripe stone-fruit depth, and a mineral, savory edge. The result is far more layered than the category’s usual crisp-and-simple expectations. Lovely notes of citrus blossom, white peach, apricot, fresh herbs, and lime lead into a supple, quietly textural palate. Vibrant acidity keeps the wine focused, while a faint chalky salinity adds length and complexity to the finish. It is expressive without being flashy, refreshing without being lean.

2023 Old Vine Zinfandel
This is another staff favorite and a vivid expression of Morgan Twain-Peterson’s deep understanding of California’s historic vineyards. The 2023 Old Vine Zinfandel is drawn primarily from two remarkable old-vine sites: dry-farmed Sodini Ranch on Limerick Lane in Russian River Valley, planted in 1905, and Teldeschi on the Dry Creek bench, whose fruit Morgan’s father has known since his Joe Swan days in the 1970s. With an average vine age of 80 years, the blend is mostly Zinfandel, joined by Carignan, Cinsault, Grenache, Mourvèdre, and Petite Sirah from interplanted field blends. Ten months in neutral foudre, puncheon, and barrique preserves its energy and site-driven complexity.

2024 California Syrah
If you are not usually a fan of domestic Syrah, you have to try this wine. Bedrock’s 2024 California Syrah delivers the variety’s classic personality with remarkable clarity, balance, and restraint. It is sourced from some of California’s best Syrah sites: Hudson Vineyard in Carneros, where vines planted in 1993 are the appellation’s oldest existing Syrah; Griffin’s Lair on the Sonoma Coast, a tiny vineyard Morgan sought out when he founded Bedrock in 2007; and Alder Springs in Mendocino, where Stuart Bewley farms Syrah on decomposed sandstone. Co-fermented with a touch of Viognier and roughly 40% whole clusters, then aged 14 months in neutral oak, it shows dark blue fruit, cracked pepper, violets, savory spice, firm tannins, and superb freshness. Northern Rhône at a California address.
