Wine Down Thursday: Italia!
May 28 from 6 to 7:30pm
Sampler: $20/person

Join us this Thursday as we roam across Italy with three fantastic examples of what the nation has to offer. From sun-drenched coastlines to mist-covered hillside vineyards, Italy's diversity is unlike anywhere else in the wine world — and this journey captures that spirit beautifully. First we journey to the rolling hills of the pottery region, Faenza, where the Romagna Albana opens with a crisp, mineral elegance that pairs perfectly with the region's rich culinary heritage. Then we trek down to sunny Sicily where we taste a volcanic Rosato — expect bright red fruit with a whisper of salinity kissed by the Mediterranean breeze. After, we wander north to Piedmont for a delicious, fruity Barbera that brings it all home with its velvety depth and signature Italian warmth.

Featured Wines:
2024 TreRe Romagna Albana “Arlùs” Secco
Arlùs in the Romagna dialect means to shine, and what a perfect way to describe this wine. 100% Albana grape is harvested in two stages — first during normal harvest season, and second when it is overripened and experiences botrytis, or noble rot. Founded in the 1960s by Valeriano Teré, the original 14-hectare estate sits in the hills of Faenza and has now grown to 35 hectares, run by his daughter Morena and her son Massimiliano. On the nose, aromas of white peach and jasmine, with a palate that coats the mouth with apricot, citrus, and almonds. Perfect with seafood risotto or aged pecorino.

2025 Calabretta Rosato Terre Siciliane
Calabretta is a historic Sicilian vineyard founded in 1900, located on Mount Etna's north slope half a mile above sea level. Originally this winery would sell barrels of wine to restaurants or private customers until 1997, when the fourth generation of winemakers decided to bottle and sell the wine. Calabretta is dedicated to farming and producing indigenous varieties, like Nerello Mascalese. The 100% Nerello Mascalese 2025 Rosato is juicy with bright red cherry, wild raspberry, and a beautiful volcanic, mineral-driven edge.

2023 Moccagatta Barbera d'Alba
This Piedmont estate has been in the Minuto family since the 1800s. In 1952, after splitting the land with his brother, Mario Minuto turned the family land into Moccagatta estate. Since then the estate has been passed down to multiple generations and is now run by Mario's grandchildren, Martina and Stefano, who are dedicated to low environmental impact and organic farming practices. This 100% Barbera was planted in 1972 on limestone and sandy soils. This beautiful, bold, fruity wine was fermented in stainless steel tanks and aged in barriques for 5 months. It has aromas of plum and dark cherries, with a palate that is bursting with fresh blackberries, sour cherry, and vanilla. Soft, elegant texture highlights the naturally low tannins and high acidity of the Barbera grape. A perfect, ready-to-drink Barbera to pair with multiple Italian dishes, from fresh pasta to grilled meats.
